NEWS AND UPDATES

2010 Best of the US Qualifier - The Grand Columbian Olympic distance is the Best of the US, Washington qualifier. Top 3 Overall Male and Female winners will compete at the U.S. Amateur Triathlete Championship at the Orange County Triathlon, October 10, 2010.

The Mission Viejo venue and race course wowed the 2009 athletes so much, we're bringing them back again for 2010. The host city is welcoming, the local population enthusiastic and supportive, and race management is excellent.

The stacked '09 field boasted the fastest swim race ever––without wetsuits. The bike and run courses offer just the right balance of speed and challenge––and the rare chance to test yourself against the nation's best, regardless of age.

New this year is the opportunity for all six state medalists to represent their state at the Championship. First place athletes will still race in the Champions Wave. Second and third place qualifiers will race in the new "2nd Wave". Wave 2 athletes will still be competing for overall individual and expanded team honors. See our rules for more detail. Now, the highest concentration of the country's toughest competition will be even bigger and better. We can't wait to see you there for the breathtaking spectacle that is Best of the U.S. For more information, click here

2010 TriSports USAT Half Max National Championship: Hosted at Myrtle Beach Triathlon, South Carolina October 2, 2010.

QUALIFYING  - Athletes that finish in the top 33% of their age group at the Grand Columbian Half Iron automatically qualify to enter the Halfmax Championship at Myrtel Beach. Events that occur after July 1st will qualify you for the current year or the following year.

  • Qualifier status is determined by rounding to the nearest whole "racer". For example, if there are 23 people in your age group, the top 33% of that group is 7.59 people, so the top eight people will qualify.

  • If you qualify on or after July 1, 2009, you can choose to race in EITHER the 2010 or 2011 Championship.

  • You will compete in your age group as of December 31, 2010.

  • You will receive an official invitation (by e-mail) if you provided your e-mail address to the qualifying event when you qualify at an Official Qualifying Event. YOU do not have to wait for the invitation to register for the Championship.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The 2011 Long Course World Triathlon Championships will be hosted in Las Vegas, NV on November 5, 2011.The 2010 TriSports.com Halfmax Championship will be the SOLE qualifying event for the 2011 Long Course World Championships.
